INTRO
Timeswapp is a Milan based company, who provides (welfare) services to employees of different firms.
They created an application (called timeswapp) where employess access to it, through their own smartphone, computer or tablet.
This web based application offers multiple services and facilities to his users and it contributes to improve a better life working balance.
THE PROBLEM
Timeswapp apllication was thought just in a “graphic way”, without thinking to the user experience and a process.
There was no research behind it and no structure. No personas has been created, nobody had an idea of who were the users and their needs.
MY ROLE
For this project there was already something done by a team of coders who created a structure, but it was not usable, it wasn’t definitely user friendly. The app had a lot of dark and locking patterns.
Based on what was already existing, my working process started with a reasearch of competitive and comparative companies to better understand what there was on the market.
During the research i sumbitted two surveys, one for the stakeholders and one for the users, to understand, meet and define more of their needs for both entities. Once i understood the different needs and pictured the application values and scenario, i tested the already existing platform.
As i was alone on this project i maneged to personally interview a small group of people, we talked about the application and they shared their point of views, the goods and bad of the existing app.
After that i had a complete picture of the project based on researches, interviews and tests, a good amount of informations and documents that helped me to develop a primary user persona, a user flow and i could rework the app starting with the wireframing.
I re-created all the wireframes for every existing page and functionality, creating a new cathegory order between the contents of the app through a card sorting method conducted with the users.
With the use of Invision i digitalized the paper wireframes, so i could start to test it and make an iteration of test/re-define/re-design...
After the results of the first testings, i worked on the look and feels of the application where i defined a visual identity.
It took me two rounds of testing on the hi-fidelity visuals to reach a stable situation and a fine good working platform.
PROJECT LENGHT
2 months
TOOLS & TECHNIQUES
Pen and Paper, Sketch,
User interview, Sketching,
Participatory Design,
Prototyping, User Testing,
Iterations, Visual Design.
COMPETITIVE AND COMPARATIVE RESEARCH
Research and documentation of other company on the market offering a similar application of services.
TASKS ANALYSIS & PLATFORM SCAN (existing application)
I analyzed the first platform created in which i found different bugs and problematic issues that have been consolidated with the user testing session. I video recorded the testing and summed up in a single document all the important considerations and issues.
WIREFRAMES
After interviewing and testing the platform i started to draw some paper wireframes with new corrections and solving solutions to the different issues encountered.
SITEMAP
A short and simple site map illustration
HAPPY JOURNAY & SITE PROGRESS PRESENTATION
After 2 rounds of testing and redesigning the application arrived to an “happy end”, the users during the testing completed all the tasks with positive results. All the request were accomplished. I created a short presentation where was shown the”before&after” product.
SUMMARY
A recap based on the user testing experience of different users.
